Let me tell you the story of Giovanni Filippo, an engineer and dreamer, who had within him the burning desire to create the most beautiful shooting brake the world had ever seen. So he got his degrees and such, and was immediately scooped up by Lamborghini S.p.A. With their help, he created the Espada, a V12 Shooting brake with four seats and room for stuff. He loved it, but executives at Lambo were not impressed. So he tried year, after year, after year to greenlight an Espada successor to no avail. Finally, he quit Lamborghini and gave up on his dream.
Many years of loneliness passsed for Giovanni, the crushing weight of lost ambition dangling around his neck, an albatross. Gio spent many days at bars, and much of his money on bottles of wine. One day, he shared a bottle of wine and the fleeting embers of his passion for shooting brakes with a stranger, who also was enthusiatic about them. The stranger insisted on seeing some of Gio's previous designs. So Gio invited him to his flat, and showed him a treasure trove of beautiful shooting brake schematics and drawings. The stranger was overcome and demanded that Gio come with him immediately. As he and Gio approached a familiar cluster of buildings and factories in Maranello, the stranger revealed himself to be an executive at Ferrari. Gio and the stranger entered the front door for what would be the first of many times. The end to this story is already well known.
